Former Charlotte teacher charged with child sex crimes in Missouri, officials say
Gerald was employed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for 13 years
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A former Charlotte-Mecklenburg School is accused of child sex crimes in Missouri, according to our sister station in St. Louis, KMOV.
Officials said that Cedric Gerald, 48, had been a principal at Westview Middle School since 2023.
St. Louis County police told KMOV that four students at the school told investigators that Gerald had inappropriate conduct or engaged in inappropriate behavior with them.
Police said that the four students said that Gerald would make inappropriate video calls, send text messages and FaceTime with them in exchange for payment.
The four students allegedly engaged in sexual acts with Gerald at the school from Jan. 1, 2023, to May 14, 2025, according to officials.
Gerald is charged with sexual trafficking of a child, sexual exploitation of a minor, possession of child pornography, attempted statutory sodomy, sexual misconduct involving a child under 15, sexual contact with a student, harassment and two counts of statutory sodomy.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg School employee records, Gerald was an employee from 2000-2013.
Employee records with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools showed that Gerald had no disciplinary actions against him during his 13 years at the school.
Gerald also worked for Washington County Schools in Plymouth, North Carolina.
Riverview Garden School District, where Gerald was employed, released the following statement:
Simon Law and O’Brien Law Firm said on Tuesday, June 10, that they would be representing a total of six victims from multiple school districts who were allegedly sexually abused by Gerald.
Simon Law and O’Brien Law Firm are encouraging any other victims even if they’re not in Missouri to come forward.
